A Tribute to Legendary Steve Jobs

T_hero
This was the email i sent to rememberingsteve@apple.com

Message:
Today is saddest day of my life. Really miss you very much Mr. Jobs. Because of your inspiration i started my own company at age of 16. You were the greatest person i ever heard of. Really never thought i'll hear this news so soon. I don't know what to say. You were legend, you are and you'll be always. This world will remember you until there will be Sun and Moon. I was sad on the day you left Apple as CEO but now i can't explain how much sad i am. I think God wanted your creativity in heaven so he called you so soon. I don't know what else to say. Just want you back soon.

Google Plus One (+1) is nothing but Facebook "Like" Button for Great Google Search.

Gplusone
November and December of last year, Roumors spread all over that Google was toying around with the name “+1″ for an upcoming social product. Everyone was thinking it is going to launch a Social Networking site like Facebook (Even i too). But today it officially launches it as a way to share Google Search results that you like with your friends (also Google Ads). Later going to implement Google +1 Buttons on other Website also (like FB's "Like" Button).
Googleplusone2

Google defines Plus One as a “public stamp of approval,” and it is exactly that. When you like to share a Search Result with friends just click +1 Button on result link , your name becomes associated with that link and it will showup to your friends “in search, on ads, and across the web,” .It also shows up in a feed on your Google Profile, which is required to use the product.

Google +1 is a Plus for a number of social features that Google introduced in search earlier this year, such as the ability to see which friends have tweeted a given link in search results.

Now you can search more faster & get the results you wanted because you get the right recommendations (because they come from people who matter to you), at the right time (when you are actually looking for information about that topic) and in the right format (your search results).

Soon Google will also launch Google +1 Button for Website & Blogs. Below are some screenshots of Google +1 (my own) :

&

So you want to try it before it rolling to your main Google Account. Follow these steps :

1) Log-in to your Google Account (you always need to be if you want to share).
2) Create Google Profile (if you havent) . If you have created already then upgrade it to new profiles.
3) Go to : http://www.google.com/experimental and click Join this experiment button next to +1 Button. You are done now. You can share your results with friends. :)

How to Raise Funds for New Projects ?

If you have a small business and want to start new projects, then you will probably require additional funds.

Unless you have a rich parents who has left you a large amount of money in their will (and most of us don’t), you’ll need some more reliable, traditional ways to raise financing for your new projects.

1. Banks

You can raise funds by taking out a loan from a bank. You ought to approach different banks and not just your own.

With that said, some banks are more flexible in their loan requirements than others. If you have property or stock that you can use as collateral, then you may be required to do so, especially if your business has a limited or spotty credit history. Generally, banks prefer property to inventory.

You will also have to submit copies of your previous tax returns, as well as details of the new projects that you want financing for. If your tax returns indicate that you made a healthy profit in previous years, it will be relatively easier for you to secure a loan, since banks also look at your ability to pay back the loan when considering your application.

If your credit and profit history are good, you can also get an unsecured loan where you will not have to submit anything as collateral - but the rate of interest on that loan will be probably higher. You could also take out a short-term or long-term loan, depending on your needs.

2. Venture Capital

If you cannot get funds from a bank, then you could try sourcing funds from venture capitalists. Venture capitalists are people or companies who provide funds for new projects or to start up companies in which they see potential and that have the potential to pay handsome returns.

To get venture capitalist funding, you will have to convince them that they are making the right choice (we’re talking about profits here) by funding your project. The only problem is that they might become part-owners of the project, and they could end up controlling it if they feel that you are not up to the job or that they will get better results by executing the project.

Once you start earning money from your project, it is a good idea to pay back the money as soon as possible and exit from your venture capitalist agreement.

3. Friends and Relatives

If you have friends or relatives who can lend fund your new projects, then this may be a viable option, as it will involve the least amount of paperwork and inconvenience. You will still have to pay them a decent amount of interest on the loan amount.

It is still wise to simply take a loan from them and not make them partners or co-owners, as you might lose independence in your style of executing the project. You might also get more flexibility in repaying the loan.

As an incentive to secure the loan, you could also promise your friends or family a percentage of your profit margin. That way, if you earn more, they will get a better return on their investment in your project.

However, this is a debatable issue because it may not be wise to mix business with personal life. Be careful and make sure terms are clear and documented before proceeding with borrowing from friends and relatives.

4. Go Public

If your project is of a bigger nature, you can go public. You will need professionals to assist you in doing this. Shares of your company will have to be offered to the public though an IPO (i.e., Initial Public Offering). This initial sale of shares will help raise money for your new projects.

The people buying these shares will become co-owners of your company. Keep in mind that this route will only work if your company is relatively larger, with a few big projects planned in the near future. For smaller projects, the previous 3 routes are better options.

At least one of the above ways will ensure that you get the financing that you need.

TechCrunch Meetup

 + +

On June 11, it will be exactly five years since Michael Arrington hit the ‘Publish’ button and published the very first TechCrunch post (which was a brief profile of blog search engine Technorati, which Mike apparently labeled a real-time search engine at the time – what’s old is new again, right?).

TechCrunch want to celebrate fifth b'day with as many people as they can, across the globe. So they are using the new Meetup Everywhere platform that Scott Heiferman announced on stage at TechCrunch Disrupt last week to organize TechCrunch Meetups on June 11 all around the world.

Tcmeetup

So We Are Organizing TechCrunch Meetup In India's IT Valley Bangalore On June 11th At Jaaga.In. We’re not only celebrating TechCrunch, but the last five years of the Web in general.
A lot has happened since June 2005, but the wheel keeps on turning, faster than ever. Sometimes, it’s good to take a breather, look back and celebrate, and then move on.

Google Got A New Look For Its Search Engine !
Google Have Changed Its World Famous Search Engine Google.Com's  Logo & Interface.
After more than 6 months of testing, Google's new interface is finally available to everyone. The new UI is gradually rolled out on May 5 2010 and the changes are noticeable.

New Logo :

Googlenew

Google's logo has vibrant colors, the search box is bigger and it now includes the search button, the links from the homepage are no longer underlined.
Google's search results pages include a persistent sidebar that suggests specialized search engines, advanced filters and related searches. By default, Google only shows suggestions that are relevant to your query, but you can click on "more" to see other ways to refine the results.

New Interface (URL: http://bit.ly/d6MALQ) :

Newgoogle

Ask.com introduced the left sidebar in search in 2007, and now both Bing and Yahoo Search started using it. Google now adopted a similar layout to make search interfaces more consistent. "I don't like jazz, because you never know what's going to happen next," said Google's Marissa Mayer. "I've been calling this problem 'user interface jazz.' This result looks this way, and that result looks that way [something much different], and it really does slow you down."

When you navigate from web search to Google Books search, from image search to Google News, the interface will be consistent and you may not even realize that you're using a different search engine.

Sometimes, Google's sidebar will also include a list of suggestions that are difficult to define. Google calls them "something different" and used to show this label: "not entirely unlike". They're actually similar queries generated using Google Squared.

#FollowFriday : The Anatomy of a Twitter Trend

What if you didn’t know who to follow on Twitter Twitter Would you randomly start following people? Would you follow people you see mentioned by those you already follow? Most likely you would ask your friends for recommendations since you can trust that your friends will suggest people who are worth following. Which is exactly how FollowFriday began. In mid-January, FollowFriday began with a simple tweet:

Media_httpcdnmashable_amwzy
The idea is to think of interesting people you already follow and recommend them to others. Mykl Roventine suggested the hashtag #followfriday, and a few friends (Chris Brogan, Erin Kotecki Vest, Aaron Brazell and Jim Kukral) helped spread the word. On the first FollowFriday, there were almost two #followfriday tweets per second at its peak.

#FollowFriday: The Trend That Kept Trending

By Saturday morning, there was no trace of FollowFriday. A one-off fad, perhaps? Then late the next Thursday night, suddenly #followfriday tweets began to appear in foreign languages! It seemed that FollowFriday was back. Now, every Friday, people suggest other people to follow. Here is a chart of the hours that #followfriday trended each week since it began:

Media_httpcdnmashable_eowqi
What’s interesting is not that #followfriday trends for the full Friday each Friday, but that the bottom of the spikes have begun to spread out. Meaning that #followfriday is beginning to spread into Thursdays and Saturdays, US time. In other words: #followfriday is international.

Why #FollowFriday Works

FollowFriday is successful because of three main factors:

1. It’s easy. It takes little effort to send a tweet, something people do dozens of times a day. 2. It’s participatory. You don’t need to be part of the “Twitterati” to participate. You can suggest one person or 100 people. You can get endorsements from one person or a hundred people. 3. It’s karmic and it feels good. It’s a great feeling to simply say, “I think this person is great. You should follow them.”

#FollowFriday Tools & Resources

Some great sites have begun to crop up around the concept of FollowFriday. Scott Lemon created a site called TopFollowFriday.com which analyzes who is “endorsing” and who is being “endorsed.”

Media_httpcdnmashable_xziax

Brian Roy
collected thousands of tweets on FollowFriday and determined that more than 32,342 recommendations were made and more than 16,083 Twitter users were recommended. Now Brian has a tracker to follow FollowFriday (you can also track FollowFriday on Twitter Search (
)
). Even Jesse Stay of SocialToo has begun to look at reporting on FollowFriday statistics at the user level within his product. Simply, FollowFriday is a strong example of a crowdsourced recommendation engine, which will always provide better results than an automated one. Twitter Grader, for example, currently lists Guy Kawasaki as the #1 Twitterer (as opposed to #28 on TopFollowFriday), and only 2 Twitterers in its top 25 have less than 10,000 followers. With the addition of trust, recommendation systems tend to excel over purely algorithmic systems. Of course, like any system, FollowFriday has its faults. There are no categories, nor ranking systems or even a guarantee that you will actually like following the people recommended. Twitter has recently begun to make waves around becoming a search engine that allows for quick understanding of a topic or delivering an immediate response. In many ways, FollowFriday shows what happens when the Twitter community is asked a direct question: “Who do you think your friends should follow?”

What’s Next for #FollowFriday?

Media_httpcdnmashable_gzkth
It will continue to be what it is, a crowdsourced recommendation engine for Twitter followers. It will occur weekly and spawn similar efforts . Beyond that, FollowFriday shows that there is a real need for trusted content (or people) discovery, and that, on some level, a crowdsourced recommendation engine does serve that purpose. Twitter could realize the power of the people that use its product to create revenue streams and opportunities by simply using the product as intended. What are you doing? I’m suggesting people follow @oxitech , @vivekrp , @hiqhost . How about you?
